New caravans for 2012

We have always said that once everyone's holidays are over then we start the real work !! This year we have bought five top of the range caravans - a "Grand Manor"; two "luxury Lawnsides" and two "continentals". The "Grand" (No 21) is a 38x12 2 bedroom van with a bath (not full size but quite usable) & french doors; the LL's are 38 x 12, 2 bedroom vans with french doors( No 19 & 20) & fee standing furniture and the continentals are 38 x 12 centre lounge/2 bathroom family caravans. We have moved out caravans 28, 29, 30 & 31, have re-dug all the terracing to accommodate twelve foot vans & moved across all the summer fours and sixes from the entrance

Our best 2010 “lawnside” caravans, reduced to £499 – and you won’t find a better caravan in Cornwall at this price - West facing French doors in the end of the caravan that open onto our central lawns and give views down the valley – have a look at http://www.sunhavenvalley.com/gal/interiors/caravan14.php . They sleep four adults in 2 bedrooms and pets are not allowed.

At £399 we have our family 6 caravans - 2 bedroom & 3 bedroom caravans that sleep six and allow pets and also at £399 we have two “summer fours” which are two bedroomed vans to sleep four ( no pets allowed) as part of a late cancellation

At £299 you can have a four night beak in a “valley” or a “family five” – depending in availability - providing the break neither starts nor finishes on a Saturday. Pets allowed

- and on some of these deals , you might even get a second week at the price of the first (where available) but they are limited offers & when they’re gone there are no more. Most of these deals will need a phone call as they are not available on our on-line booking.

Doing what you should be doing in June

On May bank holiday afternoon, for the first time this year, it rained - probably only about two millimetres , but that was more than we had in March, April & May combined - but now the sun has come back out and people are doing what they should be doing at Sun haven Valley - relaxing outside a caravan- which is what we are really all about "

Mayday 2011 - The West Sussex Mini Owners Club (www.wsmoc.com) came to stay as usual. Whilst enjoying themselves at the The Mini World Riviera Run World Riviera Run (near Newquayin Cornwall) (www.rivierarun.co.uk) they simply choose to stay somehwere slightly quieter to enjoy their leisure hours. The Mayday weekend always seems to bring good weather - or does it come with them

What did the AA camping inspectors say ?

As part of our annual inspection (at which we again acheived 4 pennants and increased our 'scores') the inspector commented ""I received a very friendly welcome at Reception, before I carried out my inspection. This is a 7-acre site set on one side of a valley, with views to the other side over beautiful trees. There are 34 statics, which are well positioned so as not to obscure the view, and the touring field had a great location at the bottom of the site. The toilets/showers are very modern and spotlessly clean, as is the dishwashing area and laundry. There is a fantastic Information Room in the form of a wooden summerhouse, with every piece of information needed. For the children there is a top class playground with a newly installed play train and towers, in addition to all the usual equipment, and a lovely TV room with large screen TV. Much thought and a lot of hard work has been put into this site, even down to a campers’ kitchen with microwave etc, a library and Internet access is also available. The grasses and trees were beautifully trimmed, and all in all I enjoyed my walk around this lovely site. Well done to Stephen & Helen.""

A treat for the ladies

Mawgan Porth now has it's own beauty salon ( see www.emeraldbeauty.co.uk) so that Dad can now offer a Mothers day/birthday/christmas treat in advance by looking after the family on the beach whilst Mum has a few hours personal pampering

A good year for the Wildlife

Whilst we've had a late Easter this year it looks like a good year for the wildlife. After being hounded off by the jackdaws last year, our local barn owl is back and we've seen him twice hunting the camping field (or perhaps he's been sent in from Hogwarts to tell me the grass is too long ! ), we've had the buzzards down on the old lamposts & the fox has been round to see if he can get at our new ducks. We've seen an otter locally (though fortunately for our brown trout he wasn't in our stream) and we've had deer in the rough ground adjacent to the stream. Badger sightings & scrapings are of course too many to mention - but our free-ranging guinea pigs must have had a scare one night because the badgers had obviously been digging and the cavies wouldn't come out of the hutch until they were chased out about midday

The train is on time

We didn't quite get there last year but the new playground equipment is being built in the form of a train for the 8's & under, though it will take older ones as well - it's fairly much as we planned (based on the picture) and with a bit of luck it will be open for the school holidays on April 9th. Real pictures to follow shortly

Ever wanted to eat at a Rick Stein Restaurant ? well during March 2011 you can have a three course lunch at his "St Petrocs Bistro" for £17.95 and www.sunhavenvalley.com will give you centrally heated accommodation just a few miles down the road

Countdown has started

Only 32 days to opening the campsite so we've ripped out all the showers (to replace the push-button controls with infra-red sensors) and are digging trenches across the roads to put a little more drainange in. What else can we get done I wonder ?
